Cracker Barrel Recalls tools Due to Collapse Hazard

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, May 14, 2007

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurants recall rooster kitchen stools due to collapse hazard. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of product: Rooster Kitchen Stools

About 2,600 units were sold. The stools were imported by CBOCS Distribution Inc., of Lebanon, Tenn. Tests show that the stools can unexpectedly collapse during use, causing a consumer to fall to the floor. The stools were manufactured in China.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. has received two reports of incidents in which the kitchen stool collapsed. A 10 year old boy received bruises when the kitchen stool collapsed and he fell.

The Rooster Kitchen Stool is about two feet tall and one foot in diameter. It has light brown wood and has a rooster painted on the seat. “Made in China” and item number 260161 are printed on a sticker under the seat.

The stools were sold at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations nationwide from February 2007 through March 2007 for about $30.

Consumers should stop using these kitchen stools immediately and return them to any Cracker Barrel Old Country Store for a full refund.
