I recently started taking Viagra and experienced unusua side effects. Can I file a lawsuit or anything?

Question: I’ve experienced some highly unusual side effects using my prescribed Viagra, and believe there may be some long term health damage according to my Doctor. Can I initiate a lawsuit?

Response: In the long term, you may be able to based on potential product defects. However, in the short term, you should not necessarily rush to file suit. The first thing you should do is report any and all unusual side effects to your doctor or health care physician to determine what the adverse effects are. In the larger scheme of things, a diagnosis and treatment of any adverse consequences from your usage of Viagra should be the first concern.

Before prescribing Viagra, your doctor should have warned you of the potential known or anticipated side effects in using the drug. Along with that, it is usually your responsibility to inform your doctor of any health problems you suffer from, or any prescription medication you take. Side effects suffered by most users of Viagra are typically documented by the manufacturer and known. Chances are, the doctor may have warned you about the side effects and potential risks.

However, this is not always the case. There are often unwarned side effects that should have been disclosed to the patients, or adverse consequences based on a doctor’s failure to proper prescribe. After speaking to your physician and treating your health issue, it would be wise to speak with a personal injury attorney to assess a potential claim of products liability or negligence of the physician in prescribing and allowing use of Viagra.
