Zicam

Zicam is a well-known and popular medication involved in the treatment of symptoms of allergies and common colds. However, reports of adverse complications forced the FDA to compel the company, Matrixx Initiatives, to remove the over the counter drug from the market, citing the Zicam nasal spray being noted as causing permanent loss of smell in patients. Currently, there are well over three hundred lawsuits pending against the company stemming from Zicam loss of smell complications. Additionally, the makers of Zicam and the FDA issued statements to consumers warning them of the risk of the drug, as well as urging them to throw away any unused Zicam medications.
