Risperdal Withdrawal

Risperdal has been the subject of many lawsuits as of late, as it has become the most widely used anti-psychotic medication in the world. Over 2/3 of the profits from the sale of Risperdal are derived from nonmedically necessary uses of the drug. Many of the pending lawsuits claim that Risperdal used fraudulent advertising in order to dishonestly promote the safety and effectiveness of the drug. At the same time, its manufacturer targeted the drug to treat other medical conditions such as sleep disorders, depression, and dementia in the elderly. As a result, many consumers who have taken Risperdal have experienced serious, and even fatal, side effects, such as diabetes and movement disorders. While Risperdal withdrawal has not commonly resulted in major side effects, there have been some reports of people suffering from seizures after discontinuing their use of Risperdal. Therefore, it is wise to follow your doctor's recommendations when discontinuing Risperdal as a treatment.
