Risperdal Dose

Doctors have traditionally prescribed Risperdal, an antipsychotic medication, for patients suffering from schizophrenia, and for some types of bipolar disorder. However, doctors began recommend a Risperdal dose for patients with a variety of other medical conditions, such as older patients exhibiting signs of dementia. However, after frequent reports of unanticipated side effects from taking Risperdal, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") issued a warning regarding the increased risk of death resulting from Risperdal use, particularly for older patients prescribed the drug for dementia. It also has become apparent that Risperdal can cause very serious complications in some patients, including diabetes, tardive dyskinesia, strokes, and neuroleptic malignant syndrome, which all have potentially incurable and/or deadly effects. As a result of these disclosures, a variety of lawsuits have been filed against Risperdal's manufacturer for failure to disclose of these risks of taking the drug, especially when prescribed for off-label uses as described above.
