Neurontin Overdose

Neurontin overdose is a risk that should be carefully monitored in any patient taking Neurontin, particularly when he or she is beginning to take the drug, going off the drug, and/or changing dosages of the drug. Furthermore, children under the age of 12 are particularly sensitive to Neurontin, thus at a greater risk for side effects from Neurontin; likewise, Neurontin leaves the system of older patients more slowly than it does in younger patients, which can also result in heightened levels of side effects, as well. A potentially serious side effect of taking Neurontin is a heightened risk of suicidal tendencies, thoughts, and behaviors, which Neurontin's manufacturer, Pfizer, allegedly failed to warn consumers about in marketing the drug for not only its approved use for epileptic seizures, for various off-label uses. Pfizer's actions regarding the marketing and sale of Neurontin ultimately resulted in hundreds of lawsuits, as well as a multimillion dollar settlement to avoid criminal and civil liability.
