Neurontin Medicine

Neurontin is a prescription medicine that is commonly used to treated seizures stemming from epilepsy, as well as the rash and pain resulting from shingles, or postherpetic neuralgia. As Neurontin has been used by consumers over the year, however, a number of unexpected side effects have developed in patients being treated with Neurontin medicine. The most prominent of these side effects have included a risk for suicidal thoughts and behaviors that is twice that of patients not being treated with Neurontin. It also became apparent that Neurontin caused a greater risk of such side effects in children under the age of 12, as well as older patients. As a result of these side effects, consumers began filing lawsuits against Pfizer, the manufacturer of Neurontin, which culminated in a $430 million dollar settlement regarding Pfizer's failure to adequately disclose the dangers of taking Neurontin, as well as for illegally marketing the drug for off-label uses.
