Mirapex Depression

Mirapex is a prescription medication that is normally used to treat the side effects of Parkinson's Disease, a motor system disorder that causes tremors, imbalance, rigidity, and slowness of movement, and is linked to a lack of dopamine in a person's brain cells. In recent years, some doctors have also prescribed Mirapex to treat Restless Leg Syndrome. Some unanticipated side effects of Mirapex, however, involve compulsive behaviors such s gambling, hypersexuality, and eating. Therefore, the manufacturer of Mirapex has changed its labeling to include a warning as to these potential side effects. While there is no conclusive link between Mirapex and depression, persons diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease do tend to experience higher rates of depression than the general public. As a result of these serious side effects, there have been lawsuits filed against Mirapex's manufacturer for its failure to warn of these potentially serious behaviors that might result from taking Mirapex.
