Lawsuit Products

One of the most common consumer lawsuit products involves defective and/or unreasonably dangerous toys. Over the last 20 years, a number of unsafe toys have gained media attention, resulting in recalls, warnings by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and consumer lawsuits, both on an individual and class action basis. Some examples of unsafe toys in the news include the 2007 recall of Aqua Dots, a craft for children involving small colored beads that contained an unsafe chemical compound that was harmful when licked or ingested, Fisher-Price Power Wheels Motorcycles with accelerators that became jammed or stuck, causing accidents, Mattel's Snacktime Cabbage Patch Dolls, which automatically chewed anything in their mouths, including children's fingers, and Hasbro's Easy Bake Oven, which caused burns to children's hands caught inside the oven door. All of these incidents involved recalls by the toys' manufacturers, as well as removal of the toy from the market, refunds to consumers, and lawsuits claiming injuries from these toys.
