Crestor

Crestor is a prescription drug meant to lower the bad cholesterol in your blood, while increasing the good cholesterol. However, like most medications, you must weigh the benefits against the risks. For example, in March 2005, an alert stating that statin drugs like Crestor can cause muscle damage. As a result, kidney and liver damage are also possible. While the jury is still out as to whether kidney damage is directly related to Crestor, close monitoring of your enzymes are important. In addition, if you are of Asian heritage, levels of the drug in your system can be twice as high as your Caucasian counterparts. Also, the effect of Crestor on an unborn baby is not known. Therefore, you should not take the drug if you are pregnant or nursing.
