Consumer Protection Credit Act

The Consumer Protection Credit Act prevents an employer from firing an employee because his/her wages are being garnished. It is not up to them to mete out any sort of punishment. In addition, the act also limits the amount that can be deducted from an individual's paycheck. Even in the event of a lawsuit, the plaintive cannot demand full compensation immediately, which might leave the other person destitute. The law provides for fair and equitable resolution of any monies that are awarded. However, it does not provide protection for the person who tries to evade his/her legal responsibilities. Therefore, it is important to understand the law and seek legal representation, if you want to file a lawsuit or have one filed against you.
