Drug companies need to understand consumer law. Protection is available to the patient who may take their drug and suffer severe illness, injury, or even death, because the company did not adequately disclose potential dangers with taking the drug. The practice of touting all of the benefits, while concealing any major risks, is no more. Drug manufacturers must let users know, if they might experience negative side effects. Even if a problem is discovered long after the drug has been on the market, the drug company may still be held liable. The publicity can be devastating and the drug may receive a black box label or be totally taken off the market.
